The Ricoma EM-1010 is a 10-needle embroidery machine designed for embroidery enthusiasts, hobbyists and crafters. Here at the garage, this machine gives our residency teams and tinkerers the ability to create custom branded apparel so that they can make team merchandise or incorporate these fabric designs into their products. The machine can print with up to 10 colors on a single design and can embroider most conventional apparel (t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, pants, bags, etc.). With help from our makerspace staff, students can create embroidery designs from 2D images made in Adobe illustrator (or simply found on the internet) via Ricoma’s Chroma software (accessible to students on the makerspace’s designated laptop). In just a few hours, students can take an image from their computer and have it stitched onto a piece of apparel of their choice.
